What does a PSW do?

  • Crisis work:  Evaluation of situational and emotional trauma in order to reduce potential negative consequences of traumatic events in the lives of children and families, thus removing the barriers for learning.
     

  • Parent and family interventions:  Providing community referrals and parent support for families.
     

  • Individual and group therapy: Offering children a supportive relationship in which they can learn new approaches to solving their problems.
     

  • Mental health education: Provides Socioemotional education to students, teachers and parents through workshops and school wide campaigns. Provides mental health consultation to staff members.
